With sadness… I must admit one of my sites was hacked. Twice. Nothing was taken, the site was rendered non-functional. So I blew that site out of the water and am starting that site from scratch.
Why am I mentioning this? Because my videos for this site were hosted on that server instead of this site. So that means at some point I will be forced to rebuild this site from scratch too, since the original videos and original content no longer exist here nor there.
Till then if you are looking to build your first website from scratch go to YouTube. There is a video there that shows how to build a website of your own in just a day. The downside is the author is recommending options that put money into his pockets instead of strictly delivering unbiased instructions.
However, the steps he gives are valid. Just don’t spend money on the resources he recommends. Totally unnecessary. Or if you are super techie just Google ‘Amazon VPS’ and build a site there for super cheap. Amazon VPS is not for non-techies, despite Amazon claiming it is one of the easiest ways to get started. It is not easy unless you have a technical background. However, it is cheap and reliable and scalable.
The easiest way to get started is to build a site via Hostgator.com after registering your site on Godaddy.com. The linking of Godaddy.com to your Hostgator.com account is the most confusing step for non-techies (though it only requires copy and pasting from one place to the other you need to know what to copy and paste). Other than that semi-confusing cut-and-paste step, working with Godaddy.com along with Hostgator.com is the easiest way to build a real website you actually own, not something owned by a third-party company. Amazon is the cheapest option. I cannot find a package anywhere that beats Amazon’s pricing. But those savings come with a cost–your time.
Anyhow I am building a business unrelated to building websites so it may be months before i have a moment to look here again and rebuild this site. So so truly sorry 🙁
